Skirts are not only for girls any more in Japan. There are also boys that wear “Skirts” in trendy cities such as Harajuku and Aoyama.

The “12th National Beautiful Girl Contest” was held in Tokyo on August 4th. Thirteen year old Ayano Kudo from Miyazaki was chosen as the Grand Prix winner of the contest which is a beauty contest and audition contest. This year Ayano Kudo beat out 94,810 applicants to become the Grand Prix.

At his funeral, 50,000 fans mobbed the streets and by the end of the day 60 were sent to the hospital. Nearly 200 more fans received medical attention in first-aid tents after either passing out or injuring themselves in some other way.

Miss Universe Japan has agreed to change her national costume…slightly under pressure of complaints…

This is Emiri Miyasaka, who is representing Japan in the Miss Universe Pageant for 2009, in her all leather Japanese national costume.
