Japan shaken by 7.2 magnitude earthquake, no tsunami warning

Japan has been shaken anew by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, located in Kuril Islands off the country’s northern part.

Recorded with a depth of 10km, the earthquake was felt in Hokkaido and much of Japan’s northern islands, and even in Tokyo. The epicentre is about 1,500 kilometres northeast of Tokyo.

Just on Wednesday, Japan experienced a series of earthquakes, including one with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2, off the Miyake island, about 180 km (111 miles) south of Tokyo.
