Former Takarazuka actress Emi Kurara (32) has been chosen to lead the cast of Fuji TV’s upcoming afternoon drama “Suzuko no Koi.” The show will be a biography of the late comedian and actress Miyako Chouchou (real name Hyuuga Suzuko), who passed away in 2000 at the age of 80. The focus will be on her love life, including her relationship with fellow comedian and actor Nanto Yuji.
Fuji TV has assembled several big names for the drama’s cast and staff. Emi will be acting alongside prime-time veterans Asano Yuko and Kataoka Tsunetaro, both of whom have never before appeared in one of these afternoon dramas. Oishi Shizuka (“Second Virgin”) is writing the screenplay, and Matsutoya Yumi is writing a new song to be the show’s theme song.
“Suzuko no Koi” will air on Mondays through Fridays at 1:30pm, beginning January 5th.
