Skirt Boys – Lifting Up in Numbers Skirt Boy

We talked about “Vegetarian Boys.” And here is something more that’s popular with Japanese boys.

Skirts are not only for girls any more in Japan. There are also boys that wear “Skirts” in trendy cities such as Harajuku and Aoyama.

Boy skirts are not brand new, they have been done by Jean Paul Goltier and Vivian Westwood, but this fashion is spreading as it gets trendier among today’s Tokyo boys of fashion.

Long black skirts are the most popular, but some boys wear short skirts over pants. The most popular skirts are going for over $200.

With this new trend Japanese fashion is going beyond gender’s difference. Part of it might even be the proximity of women at the stores as the boys frequent women’s stores to buy the skirts.

My girl calls them “Herbivores”. I’m safely in the “Carnivore” section according to her but hey, whatever, everyone’s got the right to “Happiness” in whatever way they see fit.

Although it shouldn’t be, it really is random that these boys are wearing skirts. Not my thing, I have to say..

I’ve recently come into contact with the term ‘herbivore’. This craze could be something of a fad or could be the source of something deeper. Herbivore seems to be the default term for ‘girly men’ in Japan. However, I find it amusing that after years Japanese women telling men they don’t want anything to do with them because they don’t look like , they want ‘carnivores’. Maybe the whole ‘herbivore’ movement is an indicator of something in Japan’s backyard that needs to be cleaned up.

He probably has no gender confusion whatsoever; he may very well just enjoy wearing a dress! The dress is an ancient item of clothing worn by men for millennia and infact only very recently, very wrongly given solely to females; it is after all also only very recently that females were persecuted for wearing trousers! So leave him alone, Life is short and if how he spends his peaceful life offends you then the problem is yours, not his!

good for him i think every boy or man should be able to wear a skirt if they want to
