Bobby Fischer’s Estate Dispute causes his exhumation

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered that the body of the former American chess champion Bobby Fischer be exhumed so that a paternity test could be performed to see if he is the father of a 9-year-old girl, Jinky Young, the daughter of one of the women staking claim to Fischer’s estate. The order is part of a fight over his estate, which is reportedly worth about $2 million. Mr. Fischer died in Iceland in 2008. Other claims have been filed on the estate by Miyoko Watai, a Japanese chess official, who said she is Mr. Fischer’s wife and two nephews of Mr. Fischer’s. In addition, the U.S. government is also claiming payment of unpaid taxes, as reported by Agence France-Press.
