A Japanese research group implanted a sensor whose color intensity changes depending on blood glucose level in a mouses ear, kept it in the ear for more than four months and measured the mouses blood glucose level.
The group, which consists of members of the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo and Beans Laboratory, aims to apply the sensor to humans by using it for blood glucose level monitoring systems for people with diabetes.
The sensor implanted in the mouses ear is based on the "Hydrogel," which was developed by the research group. Its color intensity changes depending on blood glucose level.
