Abductee, 13, returned; mobsters confess

Three men, including two gangsters, have been arrested in the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl for a ¥100 million ransom in Nonoichi, Ishikawa Prefecture, police said Thursday. The first-year junior high school student was rescued about one hour after being kidnapped at around 7 a.m. Wednesday, the police said.Fujio Hojo, 52, is suspected of pulling her into a car while she was on her way to school and holding her captive.Tadanori Kamide, 45, and Yasuaki Hirose, 47, both members of the Kodo-kai, an underworld affiliate of the Yamaguchi-gumi crime syndicate, are believed to have made the ransom demand to her family.The three have confessed, the police said.The girl was wrapped in a blanket, blindfolded with a knit hat, and bound hand and foot with adhesive tape in the car when she was rescued, they said.
